Rice Krispie treats are a classic favorite, and today we’re adding a little twist to them! Browning the butter is a small step that goes a long way. Trust me, once you try these, you won’t be able to go back to the plain ol’ rice krispie treats you’ve always known.Servings: 16 squares
Line a 9x9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to lift the completed rice krispies treat out. Lightly grease the parchment paper with butter.
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Wait until it melts and begins to bubble, which is when it starts browning, releasing a heavenly, nutty aroma. Then, add the marshmallows to the butter and stir until the marshmallows are completely melted.
Remove from heat and stir in the cereal with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon, making sure to thoroughly coat the cereal with the marshmallow mixture.
Transfer the mixture into the prepared pan and gently press down on them to create a flat, even layer. Allow them to cool for at least one hour. Remove from pan using the overhanging parchment and cut into desired squares.
Notes
I made these rice krispie treats using my homemade marshmallows but store brought works fine too!
