Chai Blondes

- 10 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp tea
- 1 cup brown sugar packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- ¼ tsp ginger powder
- ¼ tsp ground clove
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8" baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
To a small saucepan over medium high heat, add the butter and tea, once the butter has completely melted reduce the stove to low and allow to cook for 10 minutes. Turn off the stove and allow the tea to steep for an additional 5 minutes. Strain out the tea leaves, you should be left with ½ cup of melted butter.
In a medium-sized bowl, beat the melted butter and brown sugar until combined. Add in the egg and vanilla and mix for another minute.
Sift in the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, ground cloves, black pepper. Beat until combined and then transfer into prepared baking pan. The batter will be thick!
Bake for 20-25 minutes, then allow to cool completely before cutting into squares! Drizzle with some caramel and enjoy!
