I’ve drank a lot of chai but none come close to how delicious and comforting my mom’s is. Bold black tea is beautifully balanced with a symphony of aromatic spices like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and ginger. What makes hers so special? You boil the tea leaves in the milk, resulting in a thick drink that’s perfectly fused together.
Let’s brew some tea!
In a medium sized saucepan over medium heat, bring to a boil the water, spices, and tea leaves. Then add the milk and allow to cook until it reaches a full boil, reduce the fire and simmer for about 5 minutes. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t boil over! When it reaches a warm brown, remove from the stove and strain out the pieces.
Add your preferred amount of sugar and serve warm!
